So pay attention to Poetry.
Pay attention to Music.
Pay attention to Paintings and Sculptures,
and Photo Exhibits and Ballets and Plays.
Your world is shouting out to you,
revealing something
intrinsically glorious about itself.
Listen carefully.
Love ART, the way ART loves LIFE.
Neale Donald Walsch

Sedgefield Art is a reflection of people's lives and loves; an expression of  their thoughts and feelings.

This beautiful environment gives us ample opportunity to allow our creative juices to flow and manifest our individual expressions of Sedgefield art.

Some exhibit it through cooking mouth watering meals, baking delicious cakes, painting - using a multitude of different mediums, photography, gardening,  dance – from ballet to "Ageless Grace", from tap to hip hop, poetry, sculpturing, woodwork, beadwork, metalwork, flower arranging, music - composing songs, lyrics, theatre, pantomime – writing plays or performing in them, making movies, writing fiction...and more.....

Some folks have got involved in amateur theatre productions or used their imaginations to create catwalk creations from recycled materials. Others raise the spirits with music concerts and forays into comedy and melodrama.

We are all born with innate creativity but many do not recognise when they are expressing it. Sometimes, something as simple as crocheting a blanket for a raffle, baking a cake for Hospice or sewing a garment for a needy child is all it takes to reveal  an unused talent or neglected abilities.

In this sense it provides a way of saying thank you for the good life we've had and to give back to our world and to others who have been less fortunate through raising much needed funds for local charities.

Sedgefield art is found in many unexpected places - in people who retire here and have time to take up art lessons and discover they have a distinctive talent for it.

The right brain at work–pronounces our interests and passion. It takes us into a timeless space – the present – where the ticking of the clock is forgotten as we lose ourselves in the powerful pull of creative energy.

“The most beautiful thing we experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.”  Albert Einstein

It is therapeutic in that it allows us to release our deepest selves, explore what matters to us and to work through issues in our lives finding clarity, comfort, solutions, joy and peace.

It lets us explore our humanity on every level and connect with our fellowman in the manifestation of it, to communicate in a way that cannot openly be done through discussion.

There are individuals, who through the course of history, the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Albert Einstein, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Luciano Pavarotti, Rudolph Nureyev and others who have been recognised by the world at large as having been creative geniuses.

“I dream my paintings and then I paint my dreams.”
Vincent Van Gogh

Many people have an extraordinary ability to plumb the depths of their creativity and with their imagination express themselves; to search the depths of their understanding and to channel their innermost feelings and responses capturing them in art forms of their choice.

They are widely acknowledged to have special talents. They are guiding lights that enable us to see the greatness of what we are capable of. They inspire and uplift us.

Sedgefield Art-adding Value to Community Life

"The five senses are ministers of the soul."
Leonardo Da Vinci

Most of us will never become famous but that should never prevent us from articulating our own inner voice through whatever medium we desire to express ourselves.

This is because, piece by piece down through the corridors of time and space, we each have a place and a part to play, and perhaps to leave a lasting legacy.

One of the great paradoxes is we are all made of the same stuff and yet we are each uniquely different. By our very existence every individual is called to contribute in some unique way to this fascinating tapestry called life.

Sedgefield art is rich and diverse, a contribution illumining all aspects of human endeavour and unquestionable in value to our local community.
