Hooriec House and flat

It was really thanks to their daughter, Tania that Gert and Ria retired to Hoorie C in Sedgefield and she also gave the house its name. Tania and Ria came to visit friends in Knynsa and Tania determined that she would like to work and live in the area.

Her Dad decided it would be a good plan to buy a house that his daughter could live in whilst his wife and himself would be able to use it as a holiday home. Searching fruitlessly for a suitable place in Knysna they extended their search to Sedgefield and eventually found an affordable house, then newly built that they live in now.

This didn’t happen straight away however. Tania lived in it first and when sometime later, she was made a good job offer she was keen to accept that entailed a move to Port Elizabeth, Gert and Ria resolved that the time had come to retire.

They moved to Sedgefield in 2002. The house had not been completely finished at the time Gert bought it in 1998 so once he was on site, he finished what needed doing and also extended the house so that it had a separate holiday flat.

The neat and cosy holiday flat has its own direct access and private space with outdoor braai area and a useful washing line a short way behind it. There is ample off-road parking and a carport behind gates for security.
